The Jurisprudence e-Learning Module is a component of the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association’s (NSDA) mandatory Continuing Competency Program (CCP). The legal principle ‘ignorance of the law excuses no one’ means that a person who is unaware of a law may not escape liability for violating that law merely because they were unaware. The aim of the Module is to support dietitians to maintain a current understanding of the regulatory, provincial and federal requirements related to dietetic practice.

The Module provides dietitians with information related to laws, standards and guidelines that govern dietitians’ practice, such as the Professional Dietitians Act, standards and policies, the code of ethics, and provincial and federal legislation

Jurisprudence exams are a current and best practice in professional regulation to ensure practitioners maintain professional practice competencies, however NSDA’s Jurisprudence e-Learning Module is not an exam.  The e-learning module consists of a series of 'open-book' quizzes.  There are two sections (Self-Regulation and Professional Practice), and eleven quizzes. Successful completion of the Module is to score 100%

Instructions

Throughout the e-learning module and quizzes, hyperlinks to relevant resources are in bold text. Answers to quiz questions are found within the Module or sources referenced within the Module. Resources can be accessed while completing the quizzes.

The entire module does not have to be completed in one sitting. Completion of the entire module may take approximately three to five hours.

Re-attempt the quiz if you have one or more incorrect answers. After completing all quizzes, click on your name at the top right corner of the screen and select "GRADES" to ensure eleven quizzes have been completed.  Successful completion of the Module is to score 89/89.
